Antea Polska S.A. has signed an agreement with the Regional Water Management Board in Białystok entitled "Preliminary feasibility study for the construction of the water barrage in Pisz" as part of the investment: "Construction of the water barrage in Pisz on the Pisa River together with technical facilities as part of the construction of the Pisz-Warsaw waterway".
The water barrage consists of a navigation lock, a weir, a fish ladder and a small hydro. Its construction is aimed at increasing water retention in Lake Roś catchment area and counteracting the effects of drought. By slowing down water outflow and decreasing the amplitude of water levels in the lake, the groundwater conditions in the area around Lake Roś will improve. Water levels in the channel of the Pisa River and in its valley below the water barrage will also increase considerably. The conditions of tourist navigation will improve.
As part of the feasibility study, Antea Polska will perform the analyses of the socio-economic, legal and financial aspects of the project. The scope of work also includes the multi-variant analysis indicating the most favourable location of the barrage. Land surveys will be carried out. Technical solutions will also be developed to protect areas and facilities from the impact of maximum damming on the barrage. Possible environmental effects of the barrage construction will be analysed. Antea Polska will also be responsible for carrying out public consultations on the investment.
The design phase of the investment will be completed by the end of 2025. The deadline for the construction of the barrage on the Pisa River is scheduled for the years 2026-2028. The costs of the investment are estimated at around PLN 100 million.
