ANTEA POLSKA S.A., in a consortium with partners, has signed a contract with PGW Wody Polskie (National Board of Water Management) to review and update the drought effects countermeasures plan.
The drought effects countermeasures plan (PPSS), of which Antea Polska is a co-author, is a strategic planning document that constitutes a study of the drought in Poland and contains, among other things, information on the threat of drought, established on the basis of measurement data and expert analyses. The PPSS also includes a catalogue of measures aimed at reducing the magnitude of losses caused by drought and ensuring effective monitoring of water resources and water management.
Due to the increasingly frequent occurrence of drought and the resulting consequences for people, the economy and the environment, Wody Polskie recognised the need to make changes in terms of counteracting the effects of drought.
The PPSS from 2021 focuses primarily on the aspect of counteracting the effects of drought and increasing retention, while in the PPSS update it is planned to indicate also the aspects of drought risk management, i.e. to indicate the operational measures to be implemented in case of its occurrence.
Within the framework of the signed contract for the Project entitled: 'Review and update of the drought effects countermeasures plan, Antea Poland with its partners will carry out the following tasks:
- Updating the methodology of the "Update of the study "Drought protection in water management planning - Methodology to be followed" of October 2017,
- Preparation of the draft update of the drought effects countermeasures plan taking into account the division of the country into river basin districts,
- Conducting a strategic environmental impact assessment,
- Provision of promotion and information.
The development of the drought effects countermeasures plan update is scheduled for 2024-2027.
